Deadlock in security officials’ talks: failed consultations with FSB generals scuppered CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s plans to meet with Putin

It has become known that the meeting with CIA Director John Ratcliffe was attended by the head of the Third Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation (DVKR), Ivan Tkachev, and the head of the Fifth Service, Alexey Komkov.

That is, the heads of services directly related to the conflict in Ukraine. By all indications, afterwards, if the discussions had gone well, a meeting between Ratcliffe and Putin could have taken place.

However, based on the outcome of the talks with the FSB representatives, such a meeting was apparently deemed inadvisable.
