Behind the scenes at the Russian FSB, there is again talk of possible personnel changes within the agency, and they are expected to take place after the elections.

In particular, it is being discussed that the director of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, will head the Security Council (what will happen to Sergei Shoigu is unknown), and his position may be taken by the current first deputy director of the FSB, Sergei Korolev. In turn, the post of first deputy would go to the current head of the FSB’s Economic Security Service (SEB), Sergei Alpatov.

And the SEB would be headed by Alexei Vertyashkin, who currently runs the FSB’s Internal Security Directorate (USB). According to a source, it is also being discussed that the head of the FSB Directorate for Moscow and the Moscow Region, Alexei Dorofeev, will finally leave his post. He is being replaced by a senior figure from the FSB’s ’M’ Directorate.
