Collapse of the Vyborg tandem: what linked Ilya Traber and the murdered Alexander Petrov

The “master of Vyborg,” influential businessman Alexander Petrov, was killed in October 2020.

A sniper fired two shots from a rifle at Petrov, killing the city’s main powerbroker right on his country house property. In the past, Petrov had been the right-hand man of Ilya Traber, known since the early 1990s by the nickname “Antikvar” (“The Antiquarian”).

Later, a conflict reportedly arose between them. Today, Traber has been detained.
