In St. Petersburg, FSB officers have detained businessman Ilya Traber. Officially, the reasons for the detention and the substance of the claims against the businessman have not yet been disclosed.
First, security forces searched Ilya Traber’s country house. After that, FSB officers visited his well-known office on Starorusskaya Street, 12, and several of his companies in the Leningrad region.
Operational and investigative measures also affected one of Ilya Traber’s business partners.
Traber is considered one of the most influential entrepreneurs in St. Petersburg, who in the 1990s became a prominent figure in the city’s shadow business sector and was close to Putin during his time working in the St. Petersburg city administration.
He began doing business in the late 1980s and gained prominence in the antiques market in the 1990s, founding the restoration and commercial center “Antikvar.”
He later moved into port and transport infrastructure. Together with Dmitry Skigin, he controlled the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, one of the largest operators of petroleum product transshipment in the port of St. Petersburg.
